Ananda Fuara

This weeks review includes two guests Asia and Jake, and excludes lame ass Danny who had to go hang with his family.  We went to Ananda Fuara at 1298 Market Street in our beautiful, currently rainy city of San Francisco.  The crew left with mixed feelings.

Paul and Asia got the organic dinner salad with vegan chicken chunks, lemon tahini, and a bowl of Dal.  Jake, giving us an opinion of the food from an omnivore’s standpoint, got the super burrito (vegetarian, not vegan).  I got the roasted vegetable ravioli with a bowl of Dal.
The best item we ordered

Paul and Asia’s dinner was pretty rad.  The chicken chunks were cooked perfectly and the dressing was amazing, perfect on the refreshing little slices of cucumber.  The dal came with slices of bread to dip with.  I would have enjoyed a hotter, spicier dal, but thats a personal preference, the flavor was full and hearty and totally enjoyable.

Jake was not about his burrito.  It was vivedly described as “bad.”  I can’t give you more info than that because the cheddar cheese and sour cream prevented me from trying it. He did not get it with the tofu or chicken chunks which you can get added for some extra money.

Super bad quality pic, my bad!
My $8.95 ravioli had about $4 worth of ravioli sitting in a none too special sauce.  The actual stuffing was fine but nothing noteworthy.  It’s not like the food was bad just overpriced and forgettable.  I left with the feeling that I could make a much better vegan ravioli, and I plan too.  Tony D., me and you bud.

Dessert was pretty bodacious though.  Pumpkin cupcakes are the jam piece, super moist!!

I definitely want to give this spot another shot.  I have a feeling the sandwiches might be  the way to go.

  1. I'm surprised that you didn't mention how weird and cultish that place is.

The best thing to order from there is their lentil soup. Which is the soup of the day almost every day.
